The service area in this photo is on the florida turnpike on the way from Orlando to Gainesville. For the first time in nearly a decade my family got in the car together and went on a trip. In this case down to my parents’ condo in Gainesville.

I have only been here with my sister and friends- never with the parents and I’ve certainly never seen the place with 4 people living in it. I remember now why I lived in Florida- the weather is amazing right now. The sun is warm, the sky is clear, and the Florida humidity people always complain to me about feels like a warm healthy embrace in 70 degree heat.

So here I am, exploring all my old Gainesville haunts (most notably mother earth natural foods and the book lover’s cafe) and learning a few new ones from the fam.

At any rate, my dad loves stopping at the Okahumpka service area on his way up here, I can’t honestly say why, except the Dunkin’ Donuts sells real unsweetened iced tea that is apparently very good.

Yesterday was a travel day and Wednesday, so I fasted, and its a good thing too, because I ate way the hell too much on Christmas (and really all last week) so now it is time to make up for it.
